Celebrations for World Book Night will be kicking off next week with a range of exciting activities and events celebrating the wonder of books and reading.
The newly reopened Shefford Library is pulling out all the stops! It will be holding a special Bedtime Stories event at 6pm on Wednesday, April 23. Then it’s thinking caps on for our World Book Night quiz night. Team up or join others on the night. There will be a small prize for the winning team and also a prize for the team with the best name. Book your team in at the library, tickets are free and the event starts at 7pm.
Aged 13+ and love the Avengers? Then why not don your superhero cape and fly to Flitwick Library on Tuesday 22 April for a Marvel Avengers Party. Everyone who attends will receive a free book! Activities on the night include a Marvel Movie quiz, cake decorating and a competition to see who can “pin the hammer on Thor”.
In Sandy Library, customers will be invited to share their thoughts on a book they’ve enjoyed and share it with others. Drop in anytime that week to see a display of everyone’s recommendations.
You can also pop in to Barton Library for a special read and recommend session. Come along at 6.15pm on 23 April to have a chat about what you’ve been reading and take part in the book quiz.
Cllr Brian Spurr, Executive Member for Sustainable Communities, Services, said: “We’ve got a fantastic selection of events lined up to celebrate World Book Night so we hope you’ll join us.”
