BIGGLESWADE will truly come alive with colour and festivities on Saturday, June 23 when the Grand Parade of Floats passes through the town.

The Biggleswade Carnival procession is the pride of the district and sees the floats making their way around the town during the afternoon.

Before the parade begins the floats will be judged at Biggleswade Academy Trust: Holmemead Middle School at 1pm and they are expected to leave at 2pm.

They will then make their way along Mead End and into Dells Lane, moving into London Road and then the High Street.

After leaving the town centre they will proceed up Shortmead Street before turning into Sun Street, then into St John’s Street and then Potton Road.

The procession will then advance through Drove Road and Elm Road before heading down Mead End and ending the parade at Biggleswade Academy Trust: Holmemead Middle School.

This year’s parade theme is Board Games. That should give plenty of scope for imaginative ideas – traditional games as well as TV spin-offs.

Floats with a jubilee theme are being welcomed too.

It’s very easy to enter the parade, with a vehicle or simply as a dressed walker.

Don’t forget to take along your spare change as well, as bucket collectors will be in place along the route.

Many walkers will be rattling buckets and collecting loose change. Funds collected during the Carnival go to good causes in the area.
