ROBBERS stole a young man’s car after asking for directions.

The 22-year-old was driving his green S-reg Suzuki Grand Vitara along Stotfold High Street just after midnight on Saturday morning (June 2).

A man flagged him down and asked directions to Arlesey. When the victim wound down his window to talk the man leaned in and grabbed the car keys. Three other men then appeared with metal bars. They opened the car doors, jumped in and demanded money.

The driver managed to run away from the car and the robbers drove off in it.

At about 2.30am the same morning the Vitara crashed through the wall of a ground floor flat in Henlow High Street. Two people were seen running away.

The flat was unoccupied at the time but the other flats in the building had to be evacuated due to concerns over the building’s structure being unsafe.

The four robbers were white and wore dark clothing. One was large built.

Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Andy Boston on 01234 275340 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
