A LOWER school’s new headteacher may have just arrived but she is certainly no stranger to the area.

Mrs Tracey How took the reins of Laburnum Lower School in Sandy after the Easter holidays.

She was previously the assistant headteacher at a primary school in Stevenage.

But she grew up in Arlesey and even lived in Sandy for a while. Now she is back in Arlesey, where she lives with her 14-year-old son.

Tracey, 41, said: “I grew up with Bedfordshire’s three tier system. I went to Gothic Mede Lower in Arlesey, Etonbury Middle and Samuel Whitbread Upper School.

“My primary school in Stevenage was a big one with nearly 400 children. It’s nice coming to a smaller school.

“I’ve noticed already that this school has a really cosy, comfortable, family feel. Everybody knows and supports everybody.”
