A RESTAURANT is seeking volunteers as it raises money for causes in Chronicle Country and beyond.

The Viceroy in Biggleswade is putting on a series of charity events to bring in funds for charities in the area and for The Aysha Academy Trust.

Earlier this month the Boshor family who run the Sun Street restaurant raised £500 at an Elvis night.

The event featured a singer who once performed for David Cameron at his birthday party.

The money will be split between the trust, which supports a community in Bangladesh and the project to build a multi use games area (MUGA) at Edward Peake Middle School.

There will also be a Bollywood night in aid of the same two causes at the restaurant on Monday, April 16 which will include a four-course meal, live entertainment and belly dancers.

Abdul Boshor, chairman of the Trust is keen for the eaterie to help additional Chronicle Country organisations and appeals as well as the ones already supported by the charity.

He said: “We are keen for charities and community groups to get in touch with us as there is really no limit to who we can help in the area.

“We are also looking for volunteers, especially an advisor who has experience of helping out or working for other charities, and people who can just assist in general.”

Abdul has over the last eight years used proceeds from the restaurant to open two schools for orphans in his native Bangladesh.

He spends up to six months a year in the region of Sylhet where he has also helped to boost employment and medical facilities in the area.

For more information about The Trust or to volunteer contact The Viceroy on 01767 316267 or search for Aysha Academy Trust on Facebook.
