COLLEGE students were challenged to create upcycled pieces of furniture or art.
Sandy’s Max McMurdo, who has appeared on Dragons Den and has subsequently gone on to run a successful business, Reestore, worked on the project with art and design students at Milton Keynes College.
Max and Siemens Home Appliances asked the students to create upcycled single ovens, hobs, washing machines, dishwashers or refrigerators.
Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.
Max is keen to stress that eco products do not need to be made from mud or grown in a field and that they can be beautiful and contemporary.
The entries were shortlisted in February and the final was held in the Siemens showroom in Milton Keynes on Friday, March 9.
The competition’s winner was Elliot Barron from Northampton.
