An inquest into the death of a Biggleswade motorcyclist in July has ruled that the cause of the incident is ‘open to conjecture’.
Alan Huckle, 53, lost control of his motorcycle in Sandy Road, Potton on July 16, 2014 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was no evidence of any drugs or alcohol causing the incident and conditions were said to be good for riding.
There were also no malfunctions with the Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle being ridden.
PC Ian Marsh ascertained that Mr Huckle was travelling between 45 and 58mph at the beginning of the accident, a speed which was appropriate for the corner he was trying to negotiate.
PC Marsh said: “He clearly tried to slow and although reasonable he might have thought his speed was too high.”
There was also speculation regarding a second motorcycle who was riding with Mr Huckle but it appears the two riders did not know one another.
Coroner Ian Pears said: “Mr Huckle was riding his motorbike at speed prior to the bend with another unknown motorcyclist.
“It is open to conjecture as to what happened next to cause the accident.”
