Help plant Green Wheel

If you are looking for a way to shake off the festive cobwebs, why not join volunteers as they plant a 500-tree copse as part of Biggleswade’s Green Wheel?

The copse will be planted to the south of Saxon Drive, on land beside the Dunton Lane roundabout.

Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) is teaming up with Central Beds Council, which owns the land, and the new Friends of Biggleswade Green Wheel.

This copse will provide an attractive haven for wildlife and create a greener entrance to the town.

Starting at 10am on both Saturday, January 10 and Tuesday, January 13, BRCC will be on site with saplings and spades and will look forward to welcoming any who want to come along and help.

The site is best accessed via the Green Wheel path through the Linear Woods, or via the dead-end Dunton Lane beside the London Road filling station, where limited parking is available – follow the footpath beside the Cattery – and look for the BRCC Landrover.

The planting is one of a number of events to be held around the Biggleswade Green Wheel in the coming months as the Friends of Biggleswade Green Wheel seek to recruit volunteers to develop and care for this community asset.
