A consultation has begun to help Central Beds Council cement its homelessness strategy.

Under the Homelessness Act 2002, every five years all local authorities have to undertake a comprehensive review of homelessness in their area and develop a homelessness strategy based upon the findings.

Following a review of homelessness services, which involved consulting with stakeholders and customers, the council has produced its draft strategy for the next five years. It is now asking people to give their views during a consultation, which runs until February 6.

Councillor Carole Hegley, Executive Member for Social Care, Health and Housing, said: “People become homeless for a number of different reasons, often through no fault of their own, and as a council we are determined to help them.”

The consultation is at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/consultations

Paper copies are available from The Partnership and Engagement Team, Central Bedfordshire Council, Social Care, Health and Housing, Houghton Lodge, Houghton Close, Ampthill, Bedfordshire, MK45 2TG or partnershipteam@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk
