Police are urging people to report drink drivers in an effort to keep our roads safer this Christmas.

Whether straight from the pub or party, or even the morning after, driving under the influence of drink or drugs puts lives at risk.

Chief Inspector Richard Hann said: “Whether you see someone driving erratically or are privy to information that someone is driving under the influence of drink or drugs, please call 999 immediately.

“By providing this information you can help keep our roads safer and help us to save lives.”

The Bedfordshire Road Policing Unit will be conducting breathalyser checks round the clock throughout December – including during the morning rush hour.

Motorists found to be driving while under the influence of drink or drugs face a minimum of a 12-month disqualification from driving, as well as a fine and/or imprisonment.
