More jobs could be on the way to Biggleswade as businesses seek to expand at Stratton Business Park.
Central Beds Council’s executive committee is due to meet next week to discuss the progress of the business park’s development, and selling up to 20 acres of land to two unnamed businesses.
It is being asked to sell 12 to 15 acres of land to the first company, and five acres to the second. Both expansions will include new jobs for the area.
The report also notes that it is intended to invest up to £2million in infrastructure, planning and other works in collaboration with the owners of another section of land, which is not yet ready for development.
It is hoped that sharing the cost of infrastructure will help accelerate its availability for sale, meaning more jobs arrive sooner.
The report says: “The development of the Stratton site will create significant employment opportunities during the construction phase and upon occupation. It is estimated this could be in excess of 3,500 jobs dependent on use
“Likewise, the provision of new employment space will enable known existing local business to expand and grow in the Biggleswade area, further facilitating the wider regeneration aspirations for the area.”
