Chris Andrews started a
guitar repair refinishing company from his back
garden in Biggleswade six years ago and since then his company CA Guitarworks has gone from strength to strength.
The former Stratton Upper School student has repaired guitars for well known artists such as The Script, The Proclaimers and Robbie Williams’ band.
He currently has a repair workshop located in Baldock, Hertfordshire after being fully trained in the USA at the Taylor Guitars factory in California.
Chris said: “Music is a big part of our family, I have a two-year-old son called Ben and he already owns his own electric guitar.
“We spend hours together laughing and playing the guitar, and I want other children to be able to take pleasure in learning an instrument.
“It’s rewarding to be able to give something to the next generation and lets hope one of CA Guitarworks guitars inspires the next Sir Paul McCartney!”
Chris was approached by James Rhodes in regards to the Channel 4 campaign, Don’t Stop The Music.
The Campaign run in conjunction with Oxfam calls for a musical instrument amnesty.
This is to provide the most needy schools throughout England the opportunity to be given musical instruments for students to learn and play during their education.
His time helping with the campaign has been on a voluntary basis and since helping with the charity Chris has decided that he would like to give back to his local school community.
He noticed the school list did not include any instruments for schools in Biggleswade (where he attended school), or in Baldock (where his workshop is now located).
So he he has decided to fund a guitar for every state school in these particular areas.
A total of 16 new guitars will be delivered as a Christmas present from his company to the schools.
