Sandy and The Great War will be the second Sandy Tourist Information Centre autumn and winter talk.
Local historian and author Steve Fuller will be coming to speak about different local aspects of the Great War on Tuesday, November 4.
Steve has written books on The Bedfordshire Regiment and during his talk he will summarise the regiment’s service during the war, incorporating some of the numerous personal soldiers’ tales from Sandy and the surrounding area.
Soldiers from this area included pre-war regulars, reservists and territorial force soldiers in addition to the hundreds who enlisted to fight for King and country during the war.
As a result, every one of the Regiment’s battalions and every battle included a face from Sandy and the surrounding towns and villages.
The talk starts at 7.30pm and will cost £5.50 per person and will be held in the Sandy Baptist Church Hall.
Refreshments will be available for which donations are asked for the Sandy Christmas lights.
Please book in advance by contacting the Tourist Information Centre on 01767 682728.
