AN air ambulance flew into Potton to save a young girl today (Monday, March 5).
The emergency services were called at 12.09pm and the helicopter, known as Anglia Two, landed in a field off Everton Road at 12.20 after reports that the toddler was choking.
When the East Anglian Air Ambulance paramedics reached the 18-month-old they discovered that she was not choking but having a febrile convulsion.
This is a seizure that can occur in a child with a high fever, usually in the early stages of a viral infection. The fits can be frightening but are rarely serious.
A spokesman for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said: “The crew gave the child initial treatment. A rapid response vehicle was also on the scene.
“The little girl is fine. They left her in the care of her grandparents, who will take her to the GP.”
