Artists have been commissioned to produce bespoke artwork for the next phases of the Kings Reach development in Biggleswade.
David Appleyard, local artist Wendy Briggs and Martin Heron have all been appointed as part of the design process to give the new development a real community feel.
David will design works for the main community square and smaller ‘satellite’ squares, working on a ‘music of the spheres’ theme that could include artistic designs as part of street furniture, signage, floorscapes and lighting.
Wendy will be involved in designing elements for the new community building on a theme of ‘Growing Communities’. She is a specialist in working alongside communities to add artistic features that reflect and represent the local people. Recent work includes the artwork at Fairfield Hall community building and a sensory garden at The Maythorns development off Potton Road Biggleswade.
And Martin will develop a ‘buried treasure’ art trail to encourage use of open spaces.
