It’s party time!
The highlight of the Biggleswade Carnival celebrations takes place tomorrow with the Grand Parade of Floats.
Hundreds of people are expected to take to the streets to watch the colourful floats, marching bands, walkers and other vehicles as the parade wends its way through the town.
The theme for this year’s procession is films – so expect some exciting and imaginative treats!
The busiest spot is always the Market Square and High Street, where Harris’ funfair will also be adding to the party atmosphere.
And don’t forget to bring some change, as walkers will be rattling buckets along the route to raise money for worthy causes.
This year there is also a special competition that everyone can join in with on parade day – Where’s Wally?
On the day there will be people dressed as the popular character as well as a few cardboard cutout versions dotted around the floats.
Simply count how many you spot and submit your answer, along with your name, address and phone number, to Wally@Biggleswade–Carnival. org by noon on Monday, June 23. You can also drop in your answers to Hoopers in the High Street or Angelique on Havelock Road.
All the correct answers will go in to a hat, and the lucky winner will get a cash prize!
The carnival floats will be gathering at Biggleswade Academy in Mead End from noon. Judging is at 1pm with the floats departing at 2pm. Expect them to hit the town centre at around 2.30pm.
The fun isn’t over once the parade has passed though – with the Kids’ Disco, Grand Draw and Race Night still to look forward to!
On Sunday, June 22 from 3pm to 5pm the kids can really let their hair down at the disco. Tickets are £2.50 for children (accompanying adults free) and are available from Hoopers and Angelique hairdressers in the town.
The grand draw also takes place on the same day. There are loads of brilliant prizes to be won, so don’t miss out. Tickets cost just £1 per book.
And to round off the carnival fun, why not gallop down to the Gardeners Arms pub in Potton Road?
This final event takes place on Saturday, June 28. Just turn up at the pub from 7.30pm for the first race at 8pm.
