A new award will recognise those who devote themselves to the community.
The Peter Vickers Memorial Award will be given annually to an individual who has excelled in giving up their time for voluntary work.
The Rotary Club of Biggleswade is launching the new award this year and is now seeking nominations.
The accolade is being given in memory of the late Peter Vickers, a much-loved man in politics, the church and community who passed away in August 2012 at the age of 66.
Rotarian Eddie Fuller, chairman of the club’s community youth and vocation committee, who is co-ordinating the launch, said: “As a former town and Central Beds councillor, church volunteer and man of the community, Peter did so much for Biggleswade.
“We are keen to commemorate this and it seems fitting that we can do so by starting this new award.”
Anyone who would like to make a nomination can write to Rotarian CE Fuller at 46, London Road, Biggleswade, SG18 8EB by Friday, April 18.
Those making nominations should outline in 150 to 200 words what the nominee does for the community and why they are a good candidate for the award.
