A thief made off with a charity box from the bar of a pub.

The charity box, containing around £28 in donations for the Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) was taken from the Wheatsheaf in Biggleswade on Sunday (February 16).

A man entered the pub at around midday and stood at the counter, waving a plastic bag containing bottles and making a lot of noise.

When staff came to serve him he said he had to leave as he had forgotten his wallet.

He did not return and later it was discovered that the box had been removed from the bar.

The man is described as white and around five foot ten inches tall, in his late thirties.

He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a light-coloured shirt and a dark jacket.

Anyone with any information should contact Beds Police on 101.
