Teaching is strong at a pre-school according to Ofsted inspectors.

Meppershall Pre-school was visited in January and graded as ‘good’ in all areas.

Inspector Kelly Eyre wrote: “Teaching techniques are strong because all practitioners have a thorough understanding of how children learn.

“They make good use of assessments of children in order to plan relevant activities that support them in making purposeful progress in their learning.”

Staff work well with parents and have a good understanding of each child. This helps them to ensure that the children settle in well and get on well with the members of staff.

The report adds: “Children become engrossed in activities as these are well planned and are informed by their current interests.

“Consequently children are motivated and keen to participate and so develop a positive approach to play and learning.”

Safety and welfare at the pre-school is good. Care is consistent.

To further improve the pre-school should give the children more opportunities to select their own equipment for outdoor play and promote more independence during snack time.
