Chronicle Country railway enthusiasts were treated to quite a sight on Sunday.

An historical locomotive dating back to 1937 passed through Biggleswade.

The former LNER 60009 Union of South Africa train was travelling from London to York during a journey organised by the Railway Touring Company of Norfolk.

The locomotive was one of a class of 35 Pacifics built by the London and North Eastern Railway between 1935 and 1938.

It left Kings Cross shortly after 7am and passed through Chronicle Country on its way to York via Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

The Railway Touring Company organises regular day trips by steam train.
