Richard Maudlin has been elected to Northill Parish Council with an overwhelming majority.
His father, Peter Maudlin, held the seat until he sadly died earlier this year. Richard stands for continuity on the council, which he believes is running smoothly.
By contrast, his opponent Jason Henegan wished to split Upper and Lower Caldecote from the rest of Northill Parish, creating a new parish council.
Richard won 661 votes to Jason’s 49 at yesterday’s election (Thursday, September 12).
The turnout was 39.4 per cent. A total of 711 people from the electorate of 1,807 people cast a vote, one of which was a spoilt ballot paper.
