Plans to open a Christian school in a former restaurant have been resubmitted to Central Beds Council.
The planning application for a Plymouth Brethren school at the former Simply Oak site in Potton Road, Biggleswade was previously rejected by the planning committee.
In February councillors decided: “The site is within the countryside and the proposed school with the associated vehicular traffic generated would result in an unsustainable use of the buildings and land.”
An appeal has already been lodged but the Ermine Education Trust’s new application aims to address this issue and make the appeal unnecessary.
The application says: “These [new] plans show the rationale for the location of the site being wholly appropriate and minimising overall travel.”
The school would have a smaller catchment area than the trust’s schools at present and so would be “better served through private minibus fleets thereby sharing travel and minimising overall trip generation.”
Fewer vehicles would enter the site than when it was the Simply Oak restaurant, the report adds.
