Retail giants Marks & Spencer and Next will be opening stores in a Biggleswade retail park, it has been confirmed.
Developers LXB, who are revamping the London Road Retail Park have exchanged contracts with the two companies.
Nick Alford, property director at LXB gave a presentation to Biggleswade Town Council on Tuesday (March 26) where he updated councillors on plans for the development.
The news follows rumours that interest from M&S in opening a store in Biggleswade had cooled.
Speaking to the Chronicle after the meeting, Mr Alford said: “I am aware that there has been speculation about the intentions of M&S.
“I can confirm that we exchanged contracts with them some time ago to take 60,000 sq ft within the development.
“The group has also secured our second anchor tenant, Next for the scheme.
“Negotiations are continuing with the existing retailers and also new operators looking to invest in Biggleswade and we expect further announcements in the near future.”
