A man who raped a woman in Stotfold more than 20 years ago has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
Daniel Borgers, 41, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Friday last week (February 1) after being arrested last summer.
Borgers, of Scarborough, was brought to trial after DNA taken from him following an arrest for a minor drugs offence last year matched that on the police database.
The court heard how Borgers grabbed the woman – who was returning home from a Salvation Army meeting – from behind on a footpath close to Stotfold Methodist Church in October 1992.
The mother-of-two, who was in her forties at the time, was wearing her Salvation Army uniform and Borgers held her bonnet over her face during the attack.
He also threatened to slit her throat if she made any noise.
